DACIA and MG dominate the French market!

DACIA Sandero

The Dacia Sandero was the best-selling city car last month on the French market. The Romanian low-cost also took first position in sales to individuals in Europe for the second month in a row.

Dacia and MG were the big winners in France, where inflation is steering passenger car buyers towards cheaper models. The Dacia Sandero was the best seller last month in the French private market, which increased by 19%, which allowed the overall market to increase by 9.4%. The versatile city car Sandero was joined in the ranking of the five best-selling models on the private market in France by the Spring (3rd position) and the Duster (4th position), according to figures from the Dataforce market study.

“The brand offers exactly what private customers are looking for right now, which is an affordable automobile,” said Benjamin Kibies, senior automotive analyst at Dataforce. Indeed, the Sandero was No. 3 last month with a volume of 4,717, behind the market-leading Peugeot 208 (7,279) and the Renault Clio (5,332). The Spring was the big winner in February, the price of which fell to around 15,000 euros, thanks to government aid which ranged from 5,000 to 7,000 euros.

In addition, affordable models such as the MG4 EV have propelled the Chinese brand to outsell its long-standing rivals in the French market, such as Suzuki and Mazda. The overall volume of MG in France increased by almost 300% to reach 1,090 cars. The brand’s bestseller was the all-electric MG4 hatchback with 1,004 registrations, including 899 for private customers, according to Dataforce figures.
