End of the receipt: reversal of the situation, the measure may not come into force on April 1

Scheduled for April 1, the end of the systematic printing of receipts might still have a few days ahead of it.

The anti-waste law for a circular economy (Agec) of February 10, 2020 provided for the elimination of the automatic printing of the ticket at the cash desk on January 1, 2023. Its objective is twofold: to fight ” once morest hazardous substances present in receipts” such as endocrine disruptors and “remedy the significant waste represented by these tickets” while 30 billion copies are printed each year.

But in December 2022, we learned from an implementing decree published in Official newspaperwhat the end of the systematic printing of the receipt had been postponed to April 1, 2023.

“A decision taken this Monday, March 27”

As the deadline for the end of its automatic printing is fast approaching, it seems that the receipt still has a few days ahead of it. Indeed, according to information from Free lunch, the Ministry of Economy and Finance is considering postponing the entry into force of the Agec law once more.

The entourage of Olivia Grégoire, the Minister Delegate for Trade, confides to our colleagues that thehe current context is similar to that of last December. At the end of last year, the government had justified the postponement of the measure by “feedback from distributors and consumer associations indicating that the till receipt remained for many French people an important element in checking the prices of products purchased, in the face of inflation”.

But then when will the end of the systematic printing of the receipt be effective? “A decision must be made this Monday, March 27”responds Bercy to the regional daily.
