A fatal incident occurred when a train collided head-on with a pedestrian, leading to the latter’s demise.

The tragic incident occurred when a pedestrian was crossing the railway bridge over the chaussée de Waterloo. The victim was hit by a train traveling from Gembloux to Namur. Firefighters from the NAGE area responded to the scene with a pumper, ambulance, and SMUR of the Namur CHR. Sadly, the victim died instantly and might not be saved. The Namur public prosecutor’s office has been informed.

The pedestrian was traveling at the height of the railway bridge spanning the railway at the level of the chaussée de Waterloo when the tragedy occurred. The victim, who was along the rails, was hit head-on by a train traveling from Gembloux to Namur.

According to information from L’Avenir, firefighters from the NAGE area went to the scene of the tragedy with a pumper, an ambulance and the SMUR of the Namur CHR. But when help arrived, there was nothing more to be done to save the victim, who died instantly. The Namur public prosecutor’s office has been notified.
