An American meteorologist seemed overwhelmed by the scale of the deadly tornado that devastated several localities in the American state of Mississippi.

On the air, it alerted residents of the town of Amory to the imminent arrival of a “powerful” tornado that might put residents in danger.
“We have new data that has just arrived. North of Amory, it’s coming. Oh dear… God, help these people,” he said in a worrying tone.

The day following the tornado hit, local authorities reported at least 23 deaths.
“Tornado hunters” released images of the damage caused by the tornado.
A residential area of Rolling Fork was completely gutted by the strong winds, as seen in drone footage on Twitter. Several residents lost their homes.
The mayor of the city declared on CNN that his city “no longer existed” in view of the extent of the damage.
The death toll is likely to rise, the state governor warns, as rescuers search for potential survivors in the rubble.
