When participating in the Mesa Redonda radio and television program, the president of the National Electoral Council (CEN) of Cuba, Alina Balseiro, said that “all conditions are created to carry out the electoral exercise.”

The official pointed out that the electoral authorities have already been trained, the logistical conditions have been created and the entire system has been set up, so that voters can go to the 23,648 polling stations that will be active.

Election day will begin at 07:00 local time (11:00 GMT) and will end at 18:00 (22:00 GMT), Balseiro explained.

The president of the CEN explained that voters have the possibility of seeing the photographs and biographies of the candidates (posted in public places) for one of the 470 seats in the National Assembly of People’s Power until the day of the voting.

He mentioned that the candidate who obtains more than half of the valid votes cast will be declared elected as a deputy to the National Assembly.

The head of the CEN invited all citizens with the right to vote to participate in this legitimate process of participatory democracy.
