Man, March 25, 2023 (AIP)- Nearly 500 people tested positive for HIV-AIDS are regularly registered in the health district of Facobly, revealed, Thursday, March 23, 2023, the chief doctor of the urban health center of Sémian, point HIV focal point of the Kouibly health district.

“Today, we can say that in the department of Facobly, we have regarding 500 sick patients whom we follow regularly for HIV”, declared Dr Soro Nalourgo, during the installation workshop of the focal cells fight once morest AIDS in the department of Facobly held at the town hall.

According to the head doctor, in order to achieve the objective of three 95, all people who test positive are put on antiretroviral treatments. However, “it happens at times, because of the behavior of society which stigmatizes them, which discriminates, that these patients become discouraged and refuse to come and collect their drugs at the hospital”, he denounced.

According to the global targets 95-95-95 approach prescribed by 2030, 95% of people living with HIV should know their HIV status, 95% of those who know their status should receive antiretroviral treatment and 95% of people taking anti-HIV treatment have a reduced viral load.

The head of the Sémian urban health center called on communities to help break down barriers and allow Côte d’Ivoire to reach the goal of ‘zero new contamination’.

“If some countries really manage to reach the goal of zero new infections, we can do it here, provided that the HIV patient is no longer stigmatized, that there is no more discrimination vis-à-vis these patients. , that they can come and benefit from care and treatment when they are detected to be infected”, he recommended in conclusion.
