Long-distance and regional rail traffic, almost all German airports, waterways and ports are affected. The Autobahn company is also involved for the first time. Local public transport is on strike in seven federal states.
The warning strike is organized by the railway and transport union (EVG) and Verdi. From the point of view of the trade unions, the employers show too little movement in several collective bargaining rounds.

There will also be little movement in border traffic with Austria: All train connections via the Deutsches Eck are affected. The ÖBB set up a connection at two-hour intervals via Zell am See between Salzburg and Wörgl in Tyrol. However, evading this route means a significant increase in travel time of more than three hours.

ÖBB therefore recommends postponing trips to, from and via Germany. Tickets booked for a trip from, to or via Germany can be canceled and refunded free of charge if the trip is not taken. The ÖBB night trains are also affected by the strike, they are being diverted or are completely or partially canceled.
The train connection for Sparschiene tickets that are valid during the strike period and were purchased by March 23 is considered to be lifted. In the case of the private Westbahn, connections to and from Innsbruck are affected, which also run via the Deutsches Eck. A rail replacement service between Innsbruck and Salzburg is set up.
There will also be failures in aviation. Vienna-Schwechat Airport is hardest hit, but flights in Graz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Linz and Klagenfurt can also be cancelled.
Upper Austria hardly affected
In Upper Austria, the border traffic between Schärding and Passau is particularly affected, as ÖBB spokesman Klaus Baumgartner says. The local trains run to the baroque city, from where passengers are taken by bus across the German border to Passau. The trains, which usually end in Simbach am Inn, stop in Braunau for the whole of Monday, and there is no replacement service.
