Boric promulgated the Economic Security Measures Law in support of the population –

The initiative considers, among other actions to improve the living conditions of Chilean men and women, the duplication of the Permanent Family Contribution in an extraordinary way.

Santiago. 23/3/2023. This morning, the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric Font, traveled to the municipality of Lo Espejo, where, accompanied by the Ministers of Finance, Mario Marcel, Labor, Jeannette Jara, and Social Development, Giorgio Jackson, promulgated the Law of Economic Security Measures, whose objective is to support vulnerable families and the middle class.

In the activity, where the mayoress of Lo Espejo, Javiera Reyes and the undersecretary of the Segpres, Macarena Lobos also participated, the president toured a fair for entrepreneurs, prior to the signing of the Law.

“We have to be present now and the economic aid, the transfers that we are promulgating today are going to be a real and concrete support for more than 1 million 500 thousand families”, affirmed the President of the Republic, adding that the measures seek, “ take charge of the rise in the cost of living as, for example, we also did it with the increase in the minimum wage, first to 380,000 pesos, then to 400,000 pesos, it is today at 410,000 pesos and we want to continue advancing”.

Boric also pointed out that “we are carrying out concrete measures that help to face the rise in the cost of living such as the one I already mentioned, the rise in the Single Family Subsidy, the Electronic Pocket, the doubling of the March Bonus and, in addition, the inclusion of 4,200 new medicines at a discount for Fonasa users, the advance that Zero Copayment has meant for sections C and D of Fonasa with which 5 million people stopped paying and have free care in the system health public.

The Law contemplates a series of complementary announcements, such as the extension of applications to the IFE Labor and Subsidio Protege, throughout the first semester of 2023; the aforementioned agreement to lower the price of medicines, the expansion of the School Food Program (PAE) and increase in the Food Scholarship for Higher Education (BAES) and a Special Fund for Special Guarantees for Construction.

  • Duplication of the Permanent Family Contribution -ex-March bonus- extraordinarily in 2023 through a complementary contribution, which will benefit more than 3 million people at a time of the year with a high economic burden. People will obtain their Permanent Family Contribution according to the general rules, and will receive a second extraordinary payment for the same amount starting in March, totaling a benefit of approximately 120,000 pesos direct to their pocket.
  • Permanent 20% increase in the Single Family Subsidy and the Family and Maternal Allowance as of May 2023. This increase will bring the benefit to $20,328 per person, calculated on the amount already increased in January 2023, and will benefit nearly 3,800,000 people.
  • Automation in the concession of the Single Family Subsidy for the benefit of children and adolescents who belong to the most vulnerable 40% of the population. It will be the Ministry of Social Development and Family who will verify compliance with the requirements for its granting, which will benefit 947,839 people who do not have access due to the application process.
  • Creation of a contribution for food purchases, which will be paid and used through an “Electronic Family Pocket”. The contribution of $13,500 per month per deceased will cover purchases in stores, supermarkets and other establishments in the food industry.
