UN accuses Ukrainians and Russians of “summary executions” of prisoners

Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Kherson region on Thursday, part of which Russian forces still hold. The Ukrainian president notably went to Possad-Pokrovske, a locality which suffered significant destruction, and visited a power station damaged by Russian bombing.

Ukrainian army admits it was wrong following claiming Russian troops withdrew from Nova Kakhovka town, located on the other side of the Dnieper, in the Kherson oblast. Moscow had denied and the Ukrainian general staff pointed the finger at a poor analysis of the information received.

Russian forces have partially regained control of the immediate surroundings of the Kreminna (Luhansk Oblast), which was under immediate threat from the Ukrainian army at the beginning of the year.

Finland announced on Thursday the dispatch of three Leopard 2 mine-clearing tanks in Ukraine, in addition to the three promised in February. The tanks, equipped with machine guns instead of the usual cannon, are designed to neutralize mines and explosive devices. The first four Slovak Mig-29 fighters have been delivered to Ukraine. The other nine promised devices will be transferred in the coming weeks.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) will open an office in Ukraine, following issuing an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. Ukraine’s Attorney General, Andriy Kostin, and ICC Registrar, Peter Lewis, signed a cooperation agreement on Thursday.

To help locate children abducted from Ukraine by Russia and when they return to their country, the EU will organize a conference in partnership with Warsaw and Kyiv, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced today.
