This 1930s find proves that some garages and sheds still hide rare and expensive jewels from the past.
This British car was hidden from view for half a century. Somehow miraculously, he managed to survive to this day, safe and sound. Discovered in Oklahoma, the Bentley is a very rare specimen, only 150 of these cars were produced in those years.
But this is not the only impressive thing: following 50 years in the garage, the body of the car is almost not touched by rust, and on the odometer – only 15,000 miles. But that’s not all. The car comes with the original technical data sheet from 1936, and in the trunk you can find the original fire extinguisher from the 1930s.
Why was this rare car kept in the garage for so long? Not much information. This Bentley was found in Tulsa, Oklahoma, also known as the “Oil Capital of the World.” The owner of the car, who most likely had something to do with the oil business, died many years ago. Usually such expensive cars are sold following the death of the owner, this time the family decided to just leave the Bentley in the garage.
An original Drophead coupe from this era can cost between $150,000 and $350,000 depending on condition and trim. So far, the car has not found a new owner. A team of enthusiasts refurbished the wheels and fired up the 4.25-litre inline-six engine. And even though the paint on the body was faded and the interior had seen better days, the Bentley fired up with no problems, which is especially unexpected for a car that has been sitting idle since the 1970s.
