French boxer Christian Mbilli won a spectacular fight once morest Carlos Gongora on Thursday at the Casino de Montreal.
Mbilli (24-0-0, 20 K.-O.) triumphed by unanimous decision of the judges once morest the Ecuadorian Gongora (21-2-0, 16 K.-O.).
The 27-year-old successfully defended his WBC Continental Americas and WBA International titles.
The adopted Montrealer demonstrated his excellent cardiovascular condition in the fight. He was hit with solid punches in the second and seventh rounds, but never let go and struck his rival’s steel jaw countless times.
Mbilli, who works under the aegis of Eye of the Tiger Management and Quebec coach Marc Ramsay, is unquestionably one of the world’s elite at super middleweight. He still hasn’t suffered a career loss.
Gongora was also the IBO world champion in 2021.
Earlier in the evening, Trois-Rivières heavyweight Simon Kean (23-1, 22 K.-O.) passed the K.-O. to the American Eric Molina (29-9, 21 K.-O.) in the seventh round.
