The President of South Africa meets King Philippe and Queen Mathilde as they land in the country (VIDEO).

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium recently traveled to South Africa, where they will visit cities including Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Cape Town. They are joined by Hadja Lahbib, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elio Rupo and Rudi Vervoort, Minister-Presidents of Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region, as well as a delegation of business leaders and representatives from academia. Upon arrival in South Africa, the Belgian royals were greeted with a guard of honor at Freedom Park in Pretoria, as per tradition. The aim of the trip is to strengthen the relationship between Belgium and South Africa, which is home to the largest Belgian community in Africa, and the royal couple met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday. This Wednesday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde took off for South Africa where they will visit the cities of Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

They are accompanied by Hadja Lahbib, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elio Rupo and Rudi Vervoort, respectively Minister-Presidents of Wallonia of the Brussels-Capital Region and a large delegation of business leaders and representatives of the world academic.

The king and queen arrived safely in South Africa where they were welcomed, as tradition dictates, with a beautiful guard of honor at Freedom Park in Pretoria.

Through this trip, Belgium aims to improve its relations with South Africa, which is home to the largest Belgian community in Africa.

This Thursday, the Belgian sovereigns also met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
