A chip shop competition is set to take place on Thursday evening on Belgian television network, RTL TVI. The largest competition of its kind ever to be organised in the Wallonia and Brussels regions, the event will pit two new chip shops once morest each other in the race to win the title of “Best Chip Shop in Wallonia”. This follows the selection process in which 2,000 applications were received and 12 fryers were shortlisted, with two per province being honoured each week. Expert judges, including David Antoine, Arnaud Delvenne and fry couple Fabienne and Patrick Decorte, will assess the quality of fries, each shop’s specialty, as well as the establishment’s customer service. The decision of a fan-bus filled with 15 chip lovers will also be taken into consideration. Last week, journalists went behind the scenes of the competition to expose the secrets of the show.

Each week, a jury of experts, made up of David Antoine, Arnaud Delvenne and the emblematic fry couple Fabienne and Patrick Decorte, will have to judge the two chip shops in the province that will be honored. They will have to judge the quality of the fries, the specialty of the chip shop, as well as the welcome within the establishment. To this will be added the vote of the “fan-bus” which will be filled with 15 real fries lovers. Their opinion might change everything! said Maria Del Rio to us.
