Real Madrid player Rodrigo revealed the conversation he had with Carlos Ancelotti regarding coaching the Brazil national team.
According to press reports, Ancelotti will be the next coach of the Brazil national team at the end of the current season.
Rodrigo said he was joking with Ancelotti in this regard, along with Vinicius Junior and Eder Militao, the other Brazilian duo at Real Madrid.
“We joke with Ancelotti and tell him: Coach, we are waiting for you in Brazil,” Rodrygo told Brazilian website Globo.
The young winger added, “He is joking with us and telling us that we will decide the national team list together at the time.”
And Rodrigo continued: “We say all this in a funny context, but every joke contains a part of the truth. The situation is difficult, in order for him to come to Brazil he has to leave Real Madrid, and therefore I do not know what will happen, but of course it will be an honor to have our coach here.”
Rodrigo praised his coach: “He has experience and has won everything. He knows how to deal with players and the locker room. This is very important.”
And he revealed, “Sometimes the coach does not need to be the best tactician or give the best lectures, the team is already running for him. He is very special in the locker room and that makes the difference.”
He continued, “He is a coach who simply does things, does not invent. He does what needs to be done. Sometimes we players receive a lot of tactical instructions and we may not need that all the time.”
And he added, “Ancelotti is not crazy regarding tactics. He does the simplest things and the plan works.”
Rodrigo turned to talking regarding the moment Brazil missed the penalty kick in the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals once morest Croatia.
“It never occurred to me that I might miss the penalty,” Rodrigo said. “It was a surprise.”
He continued, “I have never evaded responsibility, but only those who dare to shoot are wasted, and that happened with me and Marquinhos.”
He pointed out: “I like to be the first shooter, because I trust my ability to shoot, I think I pay well, when they asked me, I told them that I would pay, and the technical staff was determining the order of the payers, so I asked to pay the first, I made myself available.”
And he continued, “They saw that I was the youngest in the team, but I showed determination to shoot, so they put me in the first place.”
He admitted: “It was one of the saddest moments of my life because of everything we did during the World Cup. Personally, I was playing well and trying to help.”
He concluded: “I received many messages of support and encouragement, I have confidence.”
Rodrigo (22 years old) has 12 international matches with the Brazil national team, during which he scored one goal.
Brazil will play Morocco in a friendly next Sunday, in its first appearance since the World Cup.
