“We have the challenge of building a fairer and more modern country,” said the doctor known for founding popular medical consultations.
coquimbo. 3/22/2023. Fernando Viveros Reyes (D-14) is a candidate for constitutional counselor for the Coquimbo region, known in the region for founding free popular medical consultations serving more than 7,000 people in a decade. Son of a humble family, he began his political life in 1997 as a student leader, then traveled to Cuba to study medicine, where doctors from all over the world are trained.
Upon his return to Chile, he began the initiative of popular medical consultations, where he worked for almost ten years, retiring to enlist in a humanitarian mission in the Republic of Haiti.
Upon his return to the country, he was elected councilor for the Communist Party, becoming the first to be elected in the commune of Coquimbo following the dictatorship. As a former councilor of the commune, he knows very well what the needs of the people are, in addition to always being a contribution to the community from the Health trench, the town doctor as he is known. He was appointed Government Seremi, for his career and for the trust of the community. He left that responsibility to assume the candidacy for constitutional counselor and face the election on May 7.
Fernando Viveros declared that “we have the challenge of building a more just and modern country and for that we must build a text that represents the majority and guarantees social rights so longed for by our people.”
He added that “as a doctor, as a councilor and as a Seremi I have known the region, its problems and possible solutions” and asked for support in Coquimbo for his candidacy.
