First biofuel plant in Villeta will start operations from April

Asunción, IP Agency.- The inauguration of the Cremer company plant, which will produce biofuels from soybeans, is scheduled for mid-April. The project already has export certification to Europe.

Members of the International Board of the Cremer Group met with the Minister of Industry and Commerce (MIC), Luis Alberto Castiglioni, to present the latest details of the project.

The construction of the factory and the installation of the equipment and electrical part had 90% Paraguayan suppliers.

The director of the Cremer firm, Alejandro Basualdo, commented that the main reason for the meeting was the presentation of the holding authorities and to talk with the minister regarding public policies to promote biofuels.

The holding company of German origin will be the first company in the country to export biofuels to European countries.

The industrial plant has an investment of US$ 30 million and will be dedicated to the production of biodiesel from degummed soybean oil, and it is expected that it will generate a total of 200 jobs directly and indirectly.

In this regard, the Vice Minister of Industry of the MIC, Francisco Ruiz Díaz, stressed that the installation of this plant will allow the country to move up the value chain, by processing soybeans for biofuels, added to the future project of taking advantage of glycerin residue for production.

In addition to Cremer, in the city of Villeta the installation of another biofuel plant is under development, the Omega Green plant of the ECB Group, scheduled to start operations in 2025.
