Mozambique could benefit from a greater volume of European investment after exempting some countries from visas – O País

The country might benefit from a greater volume of European investment, thanks to the adoption, by the Government, of visa exemption for 28 countries, for tourism and business purposes.

The finding was made by the Association of European Entrepreneurs in Mozambique (EUROCAM), following the announcement of this measure by the Mozambican Government.

The President of the association, Simome Santi, says that the decision is strategic, as more than three hundred million European citizens will be able to enter the national territory with less difficulty.

According to the decree approved by the Council of Ministers, beneficiaries must register on the e-VISA platform at least 48 hours before travel and pay a “processing fee of MZN650”.

Countries included in the approved list are Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ghana, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and United States of America.

The e-VISA platform is one of the new features of the New Consular Management Model of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and continues the effort to digitize the entire document processing of visa applications.

The measure contributes to the implementation of the National Plan for the Implementation of the Global Compact on Migration (Resolution of the Council of Ministers n.º 141/2019, approved on 20 August), according to the Government of Mozambique.
