After student rejection, a Medicine subject will not become compulsory

After the rejection of the students, the Faculty of Medicine withdrew following trying to make a subject compulsory during a school year that had already begun.

After the Faculty of Medicine tried to make a subject, Intensive Care, go from being optional to mandatory, the rejection of the students led to the measure being refuted.

“Thanks to the student organization, we defend our rights. Intensive therapy will continue as an optional subject for those of us who entered before 2023,” said Viento de Abajo, a student group.

The Faculty had to retract because the students rejected the compulsory nature of the subject, since, according to what they assured, it might affect the development of their careers and subsequent graduation.

“Compulsory intensive therapy cannot be applied retroactively. Those who submitted the sum of PFO want to start the title in process and cannot, they urgently need the SIU to change the percentage. It is not fair to change the plan on the fly for students who entered before 2023”, they indicated from the mentioned group.

In this way, and as detailed by the Medicine student center, Remediar, the subject will be compulsory, but from another modality. “It will only begin to be mandatory when the modification of the study plan is approved by the Ministry of Education and it will apply to entrants from THAT year onwards,” they assured. .
