Bariloche must change the Electoral Board in a month and the councilors seek agreements

The Municipal Electoral Board of Bariloche expires its mandate in a month and the political parties began, timidly, the conversations to define the shortlist that will integrate it, which must obtain the votes of two thirds of the councilors.

Informal meetings between the block presidents and political leaders began, but there is no progress. It is speculated that they will put more emphasis on this issue and definitions will arrive following the provincial elections on April 16and discussions are already envisioned.

The Electoral Board is made up of three members and its mandate is always renewed at the end of April, every 4 years, coinciding with the electoral year and with the rush to get to work immediately for the September elections, which have in Bariloche the particularity of having a single ticket.

The integration of this body is defined by the councilors who must seek an agreement because 8 votes are needed. In 2019, when it was renewed for the last time, it was striking that the conformation was left with two members of the ruling party, Juntos Somos Río Negro, and one from the Pro, a force that at that time had a one-person block.

From the ruling party they admitted to this newspaper that Conversations began, but they estimate that any definition will be following the provincial elections. The deadlines are tight because the current mandate expires on April 30.

The president of the Frente de Todos bloc, Julieta Wallace, issued a warning. “The proportionality of the Council’s forces and diversity must be respected”clarified before the consultation of BLACK RIVER.

Wallace said he intends that define the “criteria for the election” of the three members of the Electoral Board and according to his understanding, the Frente de Todos should be in that list because he obtained the second representation -regarding the number of votes in the 2019 elections- although currently he was left with two councilors due to the resignation of Roxana Ferreyra from the bloc.

The councilor said that what happened 4 years ago should not be repeatedt is back when a space was granted to a minority block. Failing that, he pointed out, if there is no agreement so that there are two representatives for the ruling party and one for the FdT, consensus might be generated so that a member agreed by the one-person blocks also enters.

For the moment, no one ventures names, but there is interest from all sectors in the formation of the Electoral Board because it is a year in which the political future of the city is defined.

In Dina Huapi there were changes

In Dina Huapi there are also changes in the Electoral Board this year and the councilors already anticipated that debate and formed the structure by agreement. In that municipality the elections will be on June 11.

The new Municipal Electoral Board is made up of the former Minister of Tourism Martha Vélez, Hugo Brockerhof and Valeria Camargo.
