Ex-girlfriend of rapper Bad Bunny is suing him for $40 million

Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez, who was in a relationship with the rap star from 2011 to 2016, filed a complaint in early March in a court in San Juan, capital of Puerto Rico, the NotiCel site reported on Monday.

In 2015, when Bad Bunny was not yet the prince of reggaeton he is today, the young woman said she recorded herself on her phone saying the phrase “Bad Bunny Baby”, according to the court document.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Martínez Ocasio, later used this recording, without authorization, at the beginning of the song, “Pa Ti”, and a few years later on the title “Dos Mil 16″ of his album ” Un Verano Sin Ti”, Grammy Award-winning.

For this latest installment, the artist’s team reportedly sent out contracts requesting Ms. De La Cruz Hernandez’s consent, a day before the album was released in May 2022, but did not wait to receive a response before to add the voice of the young woman on the title, according to the same source.

Since the release of the track, “thousands of people have made comments on Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez’s social networks, which has caused and continues to cause him “concern, anguish, a feelings of intimidation, overwhelm and anxiety,” according to the complaint.
