Artyom Uss, son of Krasnoyarsk governor, approved for extradition to US by Italian court

A court in Italy has given its approval for the extradition of Artem Uss, who is the son of Alexander Uss, the Governor of Krasnoyarsk Territory, to the United States where he faces allegations of money laundering and sanctions evasion. The lawyer for Mr. Uss has said that they intend to appeal the decision made by the Italian court. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation also planned to request Artem Uss’s extradition. He was detained in Milan in October 2022 following a request made by the US Department of Justice. U.S. authorities accuse him of exporting military technology from the US through shell companies, oil smuggling, and money laundering. Artem Uss has denied his guilt, stating that the last time he was in the United States he was 14 years old. He was also arrested in absentia in Russia on suspicion of money laundering, and on December 2, he was put under house arrest in a Milan suburb. Artem Uss asked for extradition to Russia during a court hearing in Milan in January.
