The usual ban is not enough for Mitrovic

England | English FA Cup

The Football Association will take stricter action with Fulham’s top scorer Aleksandar Mitrović following shoving match referee Chris Kavanagh.

Mitrovic had lost his nerve during the quarter-finals of the FA Cup when Kavanagh decided to dismiss his colleague Willian and award a penalty kick to Manchester United.

The Serbian international pushed the referee and clashed with him verbally, to be expelled in turn, accompanied by Marco Silva, the coach of the London team.

Fulham was forced to complete the match in the last 19 minutes of the match, to suffer a 3-1 defeat at the Old Trafford Stadium.

The regulations usually stipulate that players be suspended for 3 matches following showing red cards in their faces.

However, the FA stressed in an official statement that it was “clearly insufficient” in Mitrovic’s case.

The British newspaper “Daily Mirror” suggested that the suspension of the owner of the No. 9 shirt would reach 10 matches, which means the end of the current 2022-2023 season for Mitrovic, with only 10 rounds remaining in the English Premier League competition.
