The head of the “Lebanese Forces” party, Samir Geagea, met in Maarab with the UK ambassador, Hamish Coyle, accompanied by the advisor at the embassy, Alice Moss, in the presence of the head of the party’s foreign relations apparatus, Richard Kouyoumjian, and a member of the Central Council, Mark Saad.
The meeting discussed developments on the Lebanese and regional arenas, as Geagea stressed to the ambassador that “Lebanon will not witness any solution, except by electing an actual president of the country, capable of taking appropriate decisions to address the current problem, which is political par excellence, and not filling the vacuum with any president who will not heal the grievances of the Lebanese.” He will not “move” the country even one step towards a solution.
He stressed, “The worsening economic and social crisis is the result of the political dispute between two different projects in the country, and that the forces with their friends are leading one of them in the face of the defiance team’s project, whose dire consequences for the country were evident to everyone.”
Noting “democratic life, which is one of Lebanon’s main wealth, and it must be preserved and all its obstructors must be confronted,” Geagea reiterated, “the solution will not come from outside, because it is in the hands of the Lebanese.”
Geagea thanked the United Kingdom, through its Ambassador Quayle, for all the “support it provides to the Lebanese people in various fields, the latest of which was the support for the educational sector.” and its consequences for their daily lives.
In conclusion, Geagea, the UK ambassador, carried a congratulatory message to His Majesty King Charles on the occasion of his inauguration next May.
