The Office of Public Health (ÚVZ) of the Slovak Republic will cancel the decree on the isolation of persons positive for COVID-19 and the quarantine of close contacts from March 20 of this year. This will be done in agreement with the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic and the professional council. Persons with COVID-19 will no longer have a mandatory five-day home isolation from this date. ÚVZ spokeswoman Daša Račková informed regarding this in a press release.
“As with other acute respiratory diseases, adults and children with COVID-19 will be under the care of their attending physicians, who will adjust their treatment or establish incapacity for work,” said the spokeswoman of the ÚVZ. In the case of children, the doctor determines that the child is not fit to attend the collective during the illness.
According to the ÚVZ, the disease currently does not require mandatory isolation due to the currently circulating variants of SARS-CoV-2 and the proportion of people who have overcome COVID-19 or have been fully vaccinated. “In this respect, the disease of COVID-19 reaches the level of other acute respiratory diseases, in which people protect themselves with regard to their own health, but also to protect vulnerable groups,” claims ÚVZ.
