In communication with Pro and Contra, Nancy López, Immunization Coordinator of the Regional Health Management, indicated that the activity will take place at the Generalísimo Don José de San Martín school in Punchana. It will also reach minors between the ages of 9 and 13, who for some reason are not enrolled.
The specialist said that the human papillomavirus is highly contagious and in most cases is the main cause of cervical cancer, among other types of genital cancer.
“Last year we reached 100% in the first dose, but in the second dose we no longer had that coverage and we reached 46%. This vaccine is to prevent the disease and at 18 or 20 years old when they start their sexual life, already They will be protected,” he said.
It should be noted that HPV can be transmitted to both sexually active men and women. The infection can cause cancer of the uterus, vagina, and vulva in women. In men, cancer of the penis, anus, mouth, or throat, as well as genital warts
