The SPÖ will fix details on the upcoming member survey regarding the party leadership on Wednesday. The rules of procedure are to be laid down in a presidium. It is still unclear when the comrades will be able to choose between party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner and Burgenland’s governor Hans Peter Doskozil. Vienna’s state party chairman, Mayor Michael Ludwig, advocated on Monday that a decision be made only following the Salzburg elections.
Because a lot of unrest had already been generated anyway, Ludwig pointed out in an interview with the APA. Out of consideration for all those who are committed to the SPÖ in Salzburg, one should not cause further unrest and only vote following the state elections (April 23, note). However, one should prepare the survey now and then make the decision “as soon as possible” following the election. Because the discussion is not conducive to the SPÖ, warned Ludwig.
Ludwig has no understanding for the fact that the Doskozil camp is reportedly rejecting the chairman of the election commission, namely the long-time Viennese SPÖ politician Harry Copytz. “I am very much in favor of the framework conditions being observed, especially in a situation where you have to pay particular attention to the course of the game.” There are bodies that were elected at a federal party conference. These should act according to their function.
