A minibus was involved in a fatal accident in Antwerp over the weekend. The vehicle had been hit by a car and subsequently lost control, colliding with a pole and flipping over. None of the occupants of the minibus were seriously hurt.
The minibus which ended up on its side during the night from Saturday to Sunday, at a crossroads in Antwerp, had just before that been hit by a car. The accident claimed the life of one person and left several injured.
After touching it, the driver of the car followed the minibus which picked up speed following the contact between the two vehicles. The driver of the minibus then lost control of his vehicle before hitting a pole. The minibus ended up on its side.
The driver of the car, in a state of shock, was counted among the victims by the police. The minibus was therefore carrying, according to the latest information, 17 people, one of whom, the driver, died. The other 16 occupants were lightly injured, according to police spokesman Wouter Bruyns.
