Endocrine disruptors: Scientific meetings on research work and perspectives | handles

Endocrine disruptors, substances capable of interfering with our hormonal system, are present in our daily lives: they can be found in food, cosmetics, packaging, medicines or crop treatment products.

Given the diversity of sources of exposure to these substances, research is crucial to better understand their effects according to exposure doses and periods of life. This knowledge is essential to take into account the role of environmental exposure in the development of certain diseases (metabolic diseases, reproductive diseases, obesity, etc.), to establish preventive measures and in fine better guide public action.

So many scientific challenges to reduce the exposure of the population and the environment to endocrine disruptors which are at the heart of the new National Strategy on Endocrine Disruptors (SNPE2) 2019-2022.

In this context, ANSES and the ANR are organizing a new day of scientific meetings dedicated to the theme of endocrine disruptors. The objective is to strengthen cooperation within the national scientific community by promoting dialogue with stakeholders, environmental associations, professional organizations and public decision-makers.

Bringing together all the players concerned, the symposium takes stock of current research work and prospects in this field by highlighting the complementarity between the projects financed by the national environment-health-work research program (PNR EST) of the ANSES and ANR programs.

The day is structured around three thematic sessions:

  • effects of endocrine disruptors on offspring;
  • mechanism of action: low doses and mixtures;
  • other effects of endocrine disruptors.

This day of scientific meetings will end with a conclusion on the challenges of endocrine disruptors for public health and society.
