Anna Gandler delivered a great race with seventh place at the World Cup final in Oslo.

The 2022/23 biathlon season ended today with a women’s mass start race as part of the World Cup finals in Oslo (NOR). With a convincing performance, Anna Gandler once once more ensured a top Austrian result. The young Tyrolean delivered a great performance in the last race of the winter, made a total of three penalties in foggy conditions and finished in a strong seventh place, 1:09.4 minutes behind. The 22-year-old made it into the top ten in the World Cup for the first time and the young Austrian was happy regarding her best career result to date.

With Lisa Hauser, another ÖSV athlete was among the top 15 in the final classification. The Tyrolean missed a total of four shots and ended the winter in eleventh place, 1:24.6 minutes behind.

Victory in the last race of the season went to Hanna Oeberg. The Swede had to accept only one penalty in the entire race and prevailed with a lead of 22.6 seconds once morest the Norwegian local hero Marte Olsbu Roeiseland (1 penalty). The podium was completed by the French Anais Chevalier-Bouchet (+43.7 sec./3 missed shots).

Anna Gandler (Seventh): “It was just an unbelievable race today. I felt really good and it was only on the last lap that I ran out of strength. I’m so happy and even won the sprint once morest Dorothea Wierer. Now, with this seventh place, I’ve reached my big goal for the season, which is to finish in the top ten. It’s just unbelievable, I’m so happy with my race and that’s definitely the way to end the season.”

Lisa Hauser (Eleventh): “Eleventh place at the end is really cool. A mistake four times is of course not necessarily a perfect performance and the last races were unfortunately not optimal at the shooting range. That’s a bit of a shame because a really good placement would have been possible today. Nevertheless, with eleventh place at the end, especially following the botched sprint race yesterday, I can go into the break relaxed. With the two World Cup victories in December and the single mixed medal, I can definitely look back on a successful season.”
