In women of childbearing age, one in three women will develop uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids are benign tumours. But just because it’s benign doesn’t mean it’s nothing! This tumor can evolve in an unpredictable way, go from the size of a pea to that of a grapefruit, influence the health, the fertility of the person.
We talk regarding uterine fibroids, its possible symptoms, its consequences and its treatments with Aïssatou Sidibé, nurse clinician in the mother-child unit of the hospital center of the University of Montreal. An expert patient, she created the Fibromelle blog, then the association “ Live 100 Fibroids » that she presides over.
