“Raqqa…a memory that refuses to be forgotten” in “Awraq” magazine

The Syrian Writers Association announced the issuance of the double issue, which bore the numbers 19 and 20 of the “Awraq” magazine, under the title “Raqqa…a memory that refuses to be forgotten”, coinciding with the anniversary of the launch of the Dignity Revolution and the regime’s war once morest the revolutionaries demanding freedom.

The editor-in-chief, Anwar Badr, wrote regarding the issue file, with a detailed talk regarding the general conditions in Raqqa governorate, which suffered a lot from the regime’s oppression and its marginalization of it at all levels. A distinct cultural situation in the Syrian geography, despite its modest capabilities, where many specialized cultural festivals were organized, starting with the Al-Ajili Festival of Arabic Novel and Poetry Festival, and continuing with the theater festival, another for folklore, and a forum for painting..and this is an important indicator of the depth, originality, and distinction of this cultural movement, with its creators From writers and artists, most of them left a tangible impact on our Syrian and Arab culture.

Sixty writers and intellectuals participated in this issue. Their contributions were divided between the issue file and studies, in addition to translation, dialogue and composition files, creativity files rich in texts, poetry and stories, critical studies of the Furatiya cinema and the Raqqa theater festival, and rich testimonies of Arab and Syrian writers who participated in the “Abdul Salam Al-Ajili Festival for the Novel” sessions. Al-Arabiya”, and the number of pages of the issue reached more than 580 pages, and the materials of the issue and the cover were decorated with many paintings that bore the signatures of the artists of Raqqa in particular.

The importance of this issue lies in shedding light on provinces that are rich in natural resources, bounties, and human energies, but were oppressed twice, the first by the Baathist tyranny, which saw them as just a farm for them, and the second time when ISIS took control of them and turned them into a center for their alleged Islamic caliphate. In addition to its documentary value regarding the richness and creativity of the people of Raqqa.
