Junior vs. Santa Fe: the era of the ‘Bolillo’ begins

A fresh start with good results? We’ll see. The truth is that Hernán Darío Gómez’s Junior will have his first challenge this Saturday, when he receives Santa Fe, starting at 8:30 pm, at the Metropolitano, for the ninth date of the Liga-I.

And although he took the team on the fly and warned that “not much will change” in a few days, the reality is that due to the need that the team brings, the only thing that helps him is to win, in order to begin to clear the dark atmosphere and get out of the painful last place in the championship standings.

Gone must be that bad start he had in the tournament and the elimination of the Copa Sudamericana at the hands of Arturo Reyes. Now the team must raise its head, look ahead and start to come back —both in terms of play and results— and get into the group of eight qualified, which is its obligation.

To return to the victorious path, ‘el Bolillo’ will be able to count on his entire squad at his disposal (except substitute goalkeeper Sebastián Araújo, who underwent surgery three weeks ago on his hip and who is continuing his recovery).

The Uruguayan Federico Andueza, absent in recent games due to a fissure in his right fibula, will be one of the novelties in the team and will return to the starting lineup. Next to him, if nothing strange happens, José Ortiz will play.

The full-backs will be different from those that were once morest Envigado. Wálmer Pacheco will reappear on the right, who has already overcome the physical inconvenience he had, while Amaury Torralvo will be on the left.

In the midfield ‘el Bolillo’ is going to bet on seniority. And for that, those who will see action, almost certainly, will be Didier Moreno and Carlos Sierra, two footballers who played a lot with the previous coach.

For the bands is where the big doubts are. Vladimir Hernández —an old acquaintance of ‘Bolillo’, who led him in Medellín— would have a new opportunity to be in the headline and begin to demonstrate the reason why he returned to the team.

In the right sector the question is bigger. Although he has all the players available, between Léider Berrío and Andrey Estupiñán would be the man for that band. Playing as a free man will be Juan Fernando Quintero, who suffered a trauma last game, but responded well throughout the week.

The ‘Shark’ attack would be commanded by Brayan León, who overcame the problems in his shoulder and is fit to play. Although it is also possible that Estupiñán (who has played as a forward) might be that reference in attack. Carlos Bacca would wait for his opportunity from the substitute bench.

Santa Fe, for its part, comes from taking a new breath thanks to qualifying for the group stage of the Sudamericana and the victory during the week once morest América, in Bogotá, by the League.

Whoever plays, regardless of the scheme and even if he has a few days of work, Junior is forced to defeat ‘León’ to re-emerge in the table. I hope I win for the joy of juniorism. You have to put ‘Santa Fe’ on the debut of ‘Bolillo’.
