Discord starts making custom themes available to Nitro subscribers

Discord has started making colorful themes available that allow you to change the application’s interface. They are 16 custom colors limited to Discord Nitro users on the US$9.99 monthly plan (not even those who pay Basic, US$2.99, will have access).

Nitro has many useful perks for people who spend a lot of time on Discord, such as the ability to make upload larger files, send longer messages and customize the profile.

Discord allows you to preview themes to test how the app would look if the user trying it out was a subscriber. All users can take this test through the Settings > Appearance and then clicking the “Display Theme” button.

Light themes in pastel tones and darker, melancholic ones are available. Some mix more than one color and bring shades of black as well.

For people who don’t want to pay for Nitro, there are still ways to themed Discord. The BetterDiscord project has been working on improving the app for some time now, and the list of improvements includes a theming engine. And while it lets you create truly custom themes rather than giving you tons of pre-made ones to choose from, it admittedly isn’t as user-friendly as the Nitro version.
