Six new vehicles were stolen from a car dealership and this in less than 40 seconds, probably “an internal job”, believes the director of commerce of Kentucky.

The six cars, Dodge Challenger Hellcats, were stolen at 2 a.m. Tuesday from the Don Franklin Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in Somerset, reports local broadcaster WKYT.

According to Adam Bryant, the trade manager, the thieves broke into the showroom and stole four of the vehicles. The keys were inside the cars.

Two other cars that were on company property were also stolen; their keys were inside the building and were found.

The value of the theft is estimated at $600,000.

“You know, that’s a lot of money. It’s a big problem, ”dropped the director of commerce.

“They entered through the back garage door. They had an idea of how our security system worked, ”assured the director.

According to the surveillance camera, it took at least 40 seconds for seven individuals to leave with the six Hellcats, each worth around $95,000.

“They left before the alarm went off. Once the alarm is triggered, it takes 60 seconds before it starts to alert. They had left 20 seconds before the alarm went off. Police response time was approximately three minutes. It was really well thought out.”

Fortunately, five of the vehicles were later recovered. One of the vehicles was out of gas. One was found in Tennessee and another in Alabama.

The sixth vehicle has not yet been found.

“We have an idea of where the last one is. Looks like they damaged the GPS on it. Looks like it’s in Alabama. We worked with law enforcement there and they helped us track him.”
