Opening a Coffee Business, Snoop Dogg: Indonesia Will Change the Industry

Jakarta

Indonesia is one of the countries that is quite memorable for rapper Snoop Dogg. Not only natural beauty, there was one moment that made the singer of Young, Wild & Free start his new business.

Apart from selling processed cannabis, Snoop Dogg is currently focusing on the coffee business following tasting coffee from Indonesia. He has also created a brand called INDOxyz, where he sells single origin coffee from Sumatra.

The 51-year-old man also marketed the product to the United States as an initial destination and will later expand to other countries.

He became interested in this business following being served the coffee by Michael Riady, the grandson of Lippo Group owner Mochtar Riady, during a visit to Indonesia some time ago.

In his interview with Daily Coffee News, Snoop Dogg revealed that he was very much entertained by Michael.

“I always love Indonesia and Michael always entertains us when we visit there. He gives me the best coffee in the world and we make (coffee business) from there,” he said.

Snoop Dogg admits that he has had a hobby of drinking coffee for a long time. The drink always accompanies him when working on albums and songs in the recording studio.

“My story with coffee has been going on for a long time. I spent many nights in the studio making hits, coffee became the fuel that keeps us excited regarding it,” said Snoop.

“Today is the release of a company that I founded with my partner Michael, which introduced me to the best Indonesian coffee. It only takes one sip and Snoop is immediately interested,” he added.

Snoop Dogg himself tasted Gayo coffee originating from Aceh. The coffee beans are included in high quality Arabica which comes from the mountains in Central Aceh.

The INDOxyz product itself is currently still limited to launching in California, USA. Ready-to-drink cold drinks cost US$ 5.99 and whole bean coffee costs US$ 17.99. These products are sold online and at major wholesalers.

The word INDO in the product name INDOxyz, said Snoop Dogg, comes from his flagship song in 1994 entitled “Gin & Juice”, meaning high quality marijuana.
