Jean Pascal dominated by Michael Eifert in Laval

Quebecer Jean Pascal had promised fireworks in his first fight in the Belle Province since 2018, but he instead lost by unanimous decision once morest the German Michael Eifert, Thursday at Place Bell.

Pascal (36-7-1, 20 KOs) thus missed his chance to become the mandatory contender for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) light heavyweight champion, Montrealer Artur Beterbiev.

The judges gave cards of 118-110, 115-113 and 117-111 in favor of Eifert (12-1-0, 4 KOs).

This one had the upper hand in terms of volume and thanks to his excellent cardiovascular condition. While the Lavallois sought to hit the target with devastating blows, his rival chained less powerful, but more effective combinations.

This is the first defeat for Pascal since November 24, 2018. He then lost by unanimous decision once morest Dmitrii Bivol.

Earlier in the evening, Quebec’s Mathieu Germain won the IBF Intercontinental Welterweight belt. He triumphed by unanimous decision of the judges once morest the Ontarian Steven Wilcox.
