Harry Maguire has revealed that he maintained his professional spirit as Manchester United progressed to the Europa League quarter-finals.
Maguire played as a central defender alongside Lisandro Martinez. As in his last week at Old Trafford, he showed the defensive prowess to keep Betis at bay.
Captain Maguire told MUTV in an interview.
“It was a good game. We talked regarding how important the opening goal is. After we scored, we controlled the game very well.”
said.
“The opponent threw everything for 20 minutes. We also knew the game was going to go on with great intensity, and it felt that way.”
“The opponent is a good team. We are 5th in La Liga and we are trying to qualify for the Champions League.”
“Last week at Old Trafford we played well in the second half and we played professionally here too.”
Maguire said in an interview with BT Sports:
“I expected the opponent to run fast in the beginning. I knew if we didn’t concede for 20 minutes, we might lead the game.”
said.
“We gave up a few chances, but our opponents finished badly. We also had a chance. We might have scored a few goals in the first 20 minutes.”
Maguire said in an interview with the club media that it was the last big challenge before the national team break.
“The FA Cup quarter-final is a big game. It is played at Old Trafford. It will be a great atmosphere. You have to prepare well.”
“Now we have to recover well and prepare for the game.”
