After the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran.. Tahnoun bin Zayed receives Ali Shamkhani in Abu Dhabi

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Emirati National Security Adviser, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received, on Thursday, the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Tahnoon bin Zayed and Ali Shamkhani discussed, during the meeting, which was held at the Beach Palace, “the various aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries, and opportunities to strengthen and develop them to serve the mutual interests of the two countries, especially in the political, economic and trade fields,” according to WAM.

The two sides also discussed “a number of issues of common concern and exchanged views on them and the importance of making efforts for the stability and prosperity of the region.”

Ali Shamkhani’s visit to the UAE comes, days following Saudi Arabia and Iran, under the auspices of China, reached an agreement stipulating the resumption of the severed diplomatic relations between the two countries since 2016, and the reopening of the two embassies in the two countries within a maximum period of two months.

On Thursday, Ali Shamkhani confirmed that “the Iranian government’s vision of regional cooperation, which is currently being implemented within the framework of neighborhood diplomacy, aims to build a strong region,” according to what was quoted by the official Iranian News Agency (IRNA).

Before leaving for Abu Dhabi, Shamkhani added: “If all regional countries reach this conviction, that only through concerted efforts to build a capable region can sustainable security and stability be obtained, then there is the possibility of relying on the occurrence of recent positive developments in terms of bilateral and multilateral relations within Region”.

According to (IRNA), he accompanies Shamkhani on his visit to the United Arab Emirates; A delegation that includes the governor of the Central Bank of Iran, a senior official at the Ministry of Security, and the Assistant Secretary of State for Gulf Region Affairs.
