AHL: Cayden Primeau does well, but Malcolm Subban does better

The Laval Rocket had no solution in front of Malcolm Subban and lost 2-0 to the Rochester Americans on Wednesday.

This setback meant that the Montreal Canadiens’ school club might not overtake the Rochester Americans in fourth place in the North Division. Rochester has 61 points, followed by the Rocket with 58. The Belleville Senators are sixth with 57 points and the Cleveland Monsters are two points behind Laval, but they are three more games to play.

Subban stopped 29 pucks to record the shutout. For his part, Cayden Primeau ended his evening with 30 saves.

He only yielded to Brandon Biro during a penalty kill in the second period. The Americans player took advantage of a turnover at the blue line to slip into Rocket territory to score with a good pitch on his 15e goal of the season.

Lukas Rousek put the game out of reach for the Rocket with 22 seconds left in the game thanks to an empty net goal.

The Rocket will return to action on Friday once morest the Utica Comets.
