Guaranteed show for the fifth edition of the All2Win festival this Saturday, March 18 at Kerveguen. An event where the best dancers will be selected for the Nothing2Looz festival but also for the French Break dance championship. Battle exhibitions, graffiti and rap performances are also on the program for this day bringing together the actors of the Hip-Hop movement.
There will be level on Saturday at Kerveguen and the show will undoubtedly be there. The fifth edition of the All2Win festival, organized by 974 All Star in partnership with the Hip-Hop and urban culture federation of Réunion and the Breakin school (founded by Abdel Chouari, creator of the Noothin2Looz battle, in Toulouse), will this year be combined with the regional qualification of Break dance, organized by the French dance federation with the Cœur de rue association.
The All2Win festival allows a young person under 15 to be selected to participate in Nothing2Looz, one of the biggest Hip-Hop all styles dance battles which brings together dancers from all over the world in May in Toulouse. Among the members of the jury, Abdel Chouari (four times world champion of break dance within Vagabond crew between 2006 and 2012) who, for twenty years, comes every year to Reunion.
« I first came to transmit through courses and internships but above all to set up actions around the Hip-hop culture “, he says, believing that there is” always had something special in Reunion. There is a pool of dancers with a good spirit and a Reunionese touch ».
An assured succession
If he founda great excitement regarding ten years ago with young people who might compete with anyone », it is now necessary to train the new generation. A succession that is apparently assured when we see the enthusiasm of young people for hip-hop dance. About sixty registered for the All2Win, “it is enormous“, believes Abdel Chouari.
So, “young people learn faster than us, even 7 year olds are impressive“says Mickaël Gigan (Bboy RedSo)of 974 All Star, recalling that when he started“There were no social networks, we watched VHS tapes, we had models. We don’t have the same vision of the station wagon“. At 40, he is one of the veterans and will participate, like Laurent Robert, aka Bboy Bérot, in the “Battle exhibition old school vs new school” which will see two generations compete with different styles.
Laurent Robert is also one of the organizers of the event, as regional referent Breaking of the French dance federation (FFD), since Saturday will take place the regional qualification, in the category of less than 16 years and in that of over 16 years old, for the French championship.
«It is open to all Bboy dancers, whatever their level, who are affiliated with the FFD”,he specifies, pointing out that many have just joined in order to be able to participate. If the winners of each category will go to the French championship, these qualifications are also the first step to participate in the other competitions organized by the FFD to select the dancers who will make up the team for the 2024 Olympic Games.
“It promises to be intense”
Unfortunately there is no category BGirls“because we don’t have enough girls to compete in Reunionhe says. Yesterday morning, 18 dancers over 16 and 22 under 16, from all over the island, had already registered. “I think the coaches sent their best soldiers. In the over 16 category, the level is already well advanced, close to international level. It promises to be intense“says Laurent Robert.
Especially since the Portois Bboy Killian, who won the French Cup in December, will participate, as well as two young hopefuls: Bboy Noam (17 years old) and Bboy Energy (16 years old) vice-champion of France junior. Both, even if they do not win, will go to Creps de Paris “just before the French championship for a special training for the under 18s with the hope pole “, says Laurent Robert. The three dancers are also invited to five international events.
However, emphasizes Laurent Robert, the cost of travel is such that dancers often stay in Reunion. “The Region only supports us on one plane ticket per year, and last year the Cœur de rue association received no subsidy from the town hall of Le Tampon.“, he specifies. This perhaps explains why no Reunionese is still at the top of the bill internationally, because “to evolve you have to move”.
Anyway, the level is high enough to offer the public a great show this Saturday, from 1 p.m., with MC Kanak, DJ Crazy Ice, DJ Da Skill, with the bonus of a battle 7 to smoke all styles and rappers Segadelik as well as MC Toxic and MC Flech.K.
