He National Metereological Service (SMN) warned “A similar extreme heat event is not expected to occur once more.”following the record of historical temperatures for the summer and the month of March.
In a report released today, the SMN indicated that “Meteorological changes will come with the arrival of a cold front from Patagonia, which will cause a drop in temperatures and probable rainfall”.
According to the report issued by the agency, the heat continues in the center and north of the country but “We are facing a week of changes in meteorological matters”.
Thus, he explained that towards the end of the week the situation of extreme temperatures would come to an end with the advance of a cold front from Patagonia, which will cause a drop in temperatures and probable rainfall in the Pampas region, Cuyo and part of the Argentine north.
He also stated that “in the short term it is not expected that a similar event will occur once more” of extreme heat, and the highest values will be marginalized in the north of the country, where temperatures can exceed 32 degrees at least until the 24th.
“The situation that has been registered since the last weeks is not frequent for this time, which makes it extreme and with consequences for people’s health”indicated from the SMN.
Meanwhile, the agency recalled that the extreme temperature events during the last three consecutive years are effects of the La Niña phenomenon, which also caused a severe drought in several provinces.
In numbers, the average temperature was up to 6 and 7 degrees above average, while the average maximum temperature was up to 10 degrees above normal in the north of Buenos Aires and the extreme south of Santa Fe and Entre Ríos.
