Launched together with the iPhone 12 line, in 2020, the Leather Wallet with MagSafe was updated by Apple a year later to also support the Buscar network (Find My). That way, the user might use the service to find the accessory if he ended up forgetting it somewhere.
The way this integration was created, however, disappointed many people. That’s because, instead of functioning as a kind of AirTag, the wallet just started to notify the iPhone when and where it was last disconnected from the device — that is, no tracking of the accessory in real time.
If you were one of those unhappy people, know that the accessories manufacturer ESR recently introduced a MagSafe wallet that tries to fix precisely this problem, also working as a tracker. I speak of HaloLock Geo Wallet Standavailable on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.
Capable of storing up to three credit/debit cards at once (and similar items), the HaloLock Geo Wallet Stand has a complete module for the Buscar network, which can communicate with other Apple devices around it to share the your location. Like the AirTag, it can also emit an audible alert to help its owner find it.
To connect the wallet, it’s quite simple: just open the Search app on your iPhone and hold the accessory’s home button for a few seconds. Once paired, it can be seen alongside your other devices in the “Devices” tab of the Apple app.
Just like an AirTag, however, the HaloLock Geo Wallet Stand also needs a battery to function. According to ESR, the wallet can be used for up to three months on a single charge and takes regarding an hour and a half to fully recharge with the magnetic cable that comes with the accessory.
The features don’t stop there: unlike Apple’s MagSafe Leather Wallet, the ESR accessory doubles as a kickstand for your iPhone. As you can see in the image above, the wallet is made up of two parts joined by a hinge and can hold the smartphone in both landscape and portrait mode.
If you like a little more stability when using your iPhone, know that the HaloLock Geo Wallet Stand also has a handle on the back that serves as a kind of support for your fingers. This handle is retractable, which prevents the accessory from getting caught in something when putting or taking the smartphone in the pocket.
A HaloLock Geo Wallet Stand custa US$40 and, as stated, it’s available on Kickstarter. Whoever chooses to support the project now, however, will be able to take the accessory for US$31. It has two color options (Midnight Black e Caramel Brown) and will start to be delivered in May.
