The Prime Minister supervises the receipt of drilling units and machinery for the National Company for Drilling and Wells

His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, supervised, this evening, Monday, in the province of Laksar in the western province of Nouakchott, the inauguration and operation of well-equipped and integrated drilling units and machinery for the benefit of the National Company for Drilling and Wells.

These three units, which include 3 excavators, 4 crane trucks, 4 double tankers, supply trucks and 5 tie-down vehicles, are part of the expanded Priorities Program of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani.

Each of the aforementioned units consists of:

Excavator type RB 50 mounted on a six-wheel drive truck (66 x)

– 6×6 Crane Truck (6×6)

Double tanker truck with a capacity of 20 tons

Toyota coupling car

A refueling truck

– In addition to a crane truck and a double tanker truck to reinforce the units.

The total cost of this project is 200 million ounces at the expense of the state.

His Excellency the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Ould Taleb Amar, explained in a speech on the occasion that the acquisition of these units comes in light of the high volume of demand for wells, the limited means of the private sector, and the aging of the mechanisms of the National Company for Drilling and Wells, indicating that these factors did not allow to ensure the implementation of the sector’s plans. within the deadlines set for them, nor to intervene in a timely manner, nor to organize and control prices.

He said that the new fleet is characterized by high technical characteristics, and uses various drilling technologies that reach depths of 1,200 meters. It consists of three units with their accessories, 14 transport trucks, cranes and multi-container tanks (water and fuel), in addition to three support vehicles for drilling teams.

His Excellency the Minister reviewed the various achievements made during the past years in the field of water and sanitation, including the completion of more than 500 hydrogeological and geophysical studies, in addition to many evaluations and updates of studies related to water resources.

He added that more than 663 villages have been provided with potable water, 1,266 pumping equipment and more than 215,000 household connections have been renewed, and water production has increased by 245,000 cubic meters. As part of the second phase of the “Azhar” project, many villages and towns were supplied with water. Potable water, and the production of potable water has also been increased by 5,000 cubic meters in Bogy, through the treatment of river water.

In turn, the mayor of the municipality of Laksar, Mr. Mohamed Salek Ould Ammar, welcomed the participants in this ceremony, appreciating the efforts made by the public authorities to serve the citizens in various fields, and noting the role of these mechanisms in covering the needs of the population in rural areas with safe drinking water.

After that, His Excellency the Prime Minister received detailed explanations regarding the project and its contributions to enhancing citizens’ access to water services, especially in rural areas, provided by the Director General of the National Company for Drilling and Wells, Mr. Ba Hammadi Samba, before His Excellency gave the signal to launch the operation of these mechanisms, marking their entry into service.

The ceremony took place in the presence of a number of members of the government, the director of the prime minister’s office, commissioners and advisors in the prime minister’s office, the governor of Western Nouakchott, the head of the Nouakchott region, the governor of Laksar province, and representatives of the security authorities in the state.
