The girl writes: “On Sunday, March 12, around 3:00 p.m., we experienced an attack together with two friends in Gailīšu forest. In the middle of the forest we met a man aged around 30-35, regarding 1.72 m tall, medium build, brown hair, beard stubble, dark blue I’m a puffer, a backpacker who wanted to check the time in passing. The girlfriend replied; we continued to walk, but a constant look behind us probably saved us from the first attempted attack, as eyes met. As we continued on the ridge closer to civilization, regarding the A10 highway, one of us noticed this man coming backwards at a fairly brisk pace. The moment one of us started running, the man started running too. He managed to run up to two of us, and the girlfriend asked what he wanted, following which he grabbed my phone, which I was not ready to let go of right away. The girlfriend got up and was ready to strike, but he pulled out a gun and aimed it at us, he was silent, he didn’t say a word. I let go of the phone and we started running towards the highway, causing us to roll off the cliff as we fell. Fortunately, the first driver named Artur didn’t get scared and stopped, thanks to him for that! All three of us jumped into the car and called the police. The phone had been dropped at the place where the incident took place. We got through with only one sprained ankle joint, but I’m afraid to imagine what might have happened and how everything would have turned out if he attacked us in the middle of the forest where we met for the first time. All nature lovers who also like to go for walks near the bosom of nature on holidays, especially in the Gailīši forest, be careful!”.
