First special stamps with Charles profile issued

For the first time in Great Britain, postage stamps with the profile of King Charles III can be issued. be ordered. The Royal Mail today issued a set of commemorative stamps featuring the silver face of the monarch in silhouette in the top left corner. Unlike his mother Queen Elizabeth II, Charles does not wear a crown on it.

The stamp set, made up of ten different flowers, is a nod to the 74-year-old’s love of plants, according to the Royal Mail. “His Majesty is known as a passionate gardener and we are delighted that the first commemorative stamps featuring his silhouette celebrate some of the most beloved flowers in British gardens,” said Executive Director David Gold.

Flowers featured include the sweet pea, one of the late Queen’s favorite flowers, and the sunflower, a symbol of solidarity with Ukraine in the war once morest Russia.

Exceptionally, the king’s profile points to the right. This is possible with commemorative stamps if it suits the design better. The British monarchs traditionally look to the left on standard stamps – so does Charles when the first regular stamps with his profile go on sale from April 4th.
