Co-organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) and Monsha’at – the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises in Saudi Arabia – the EWC is one of the largest field competitions and support programs for start-ups in the world.

Since its launch in 2019, the EWC has attracted participation from more than 400,000 entrepreneurs from 200 countries and connected founders with more than $4 million in cash prizes and another $266 million in perks and free support and services.

The competition attracted over 30,000 founders, with 100 of the top performing countries invited to perform for a panel of international judges in the Global Finals following several qualifying rounds. Final presentations were held at Biban 2023, the largest forum for entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises in Saudi Arabia.

Offering a platform to promote Kingdom entrepreneurship to over 105,000 participants, this year’s forum theme is “Attract-Connect-Deliver”.

In addition to the $300,000 grand prize, 10 start-ups from various countries received cash prizes ranging from $25,000 to $200,000 to take their innovative solutions to the next level.

Sami Ibrahim Alhussaini, Governor of Monsha’at, said: “Saudi innovation and ingenuity has spurred the advancement of the Kingdom’s start-up and small and medium-sized enterprise ecosystem in recent years. We are very proud that a Saudi company was chosen as champion of the most recent edition of the EWC. We hope this victory inspires more of our people to take that step forward and realize their entrepreneurial ambitions.”

“These founders and their companies are revolutionizing their industry and testing big ideas with the potential to transform our world,” said Jonathan Ortmans, president of GEN. “GEN is proud to host the World Entrepreneurship Cup for the fourth year and to offer up-and-coming companies the opportunity to connect to global markets and investments.”

The Entrepreneurship World Cup is supported by several national and international partners, including One Valley, The Global Education and Leadership Foundation (tGELF), Entrepreneurs’ Organization, King Abdullah University for Science and Technology and Startup Genome. The Misk Foundation is a founding partner.
