Ahmedabad: Indian captain Rohit Sharma responded to the incident where a group of fans in the gallery called Jai Shriram at Indian pacer Mohammed Shami during the fourth cricket test once morest Australia. Rohit expressed his stand on the matter in a press conference held following the fourth Test ended in a draw.
This is the first time I have heard of such an incident. I don’t know anything regarding that. I don’t know what happened there, said Rohit. A group of fans in the gallery first called the Indian players by name, who were standing near the boundary. Surya raised his hand to the fans who called Suryakumar Yadav by his name and reciprocated. Then the fans chanted Jai Shriram loudly. After this he was called by the name of Mohammad Shami and called Jai Shriram. Shami did not respond to the fans’ calls. There was severe criticism on the social media once morest the behavior of the fans.

India won the four-match series 2-1 following the fourth Test in Ahmedabad ended in a draw. India won the first two Tests in Nagpur and Delhi, while Australia won the third Test in Indore. India reached the final of the World Test Championship despite a draw in the Ahmedabad Test following New Zealand’s dramatic Test win over Sri Lanka. Australia will be India’s opponents in the final which will be held at the Oval in England in June.
