Many women around the world suffer from ovarian cancer, which is one of the most common cancers, and the sixth most common, and it is detected in the late stages.
There are some strange warning signs that should not be ignored, indicating that there is a problem with the ovaries, and that you have ovarian cancer, according to what was stated in the British Daily Mail.
According to the NHS, around 11 women die from the disease every day in Britain, 4,000 every year, and three times that number in the USA.
“With no effective screening tool yet, knowing the symptoms of this disease can give us a head start in diagnosing ovarian cancer at the earliest possible stage,” said Dr. Sharon Tate, chief of primary care development at Target Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
Currently, two-thirds of cases are diagnosed late and 1 in 7 women dies within 2 months of receiving a diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
He added, “If cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, it is easier to treat.”
There are strange signs of ovarian cancer, which are as follows:
1- Feeling full.
2- The need to urinate more.
3- back pain.
Flatulence
It’s usually a telltale sign that you’re constipated, or a side effect of guzzling soda, but persistent bloating is also a symptom of ovarian cancer that shouldn’t be ignored.
According to the Target Ovarian Cancer Society, only one in five women will have bloating as a sign of ovarian cancer.
Cancer Research UK says: “When cancer cells spread to the lining of the abdomen, they can irritate it and cause fluid to build up. Cancer can also block part of the lymphatic system so that fluid cannot drain from the abdomen.
Bloating and feeling full quickly are signs of ovarian cancer, and some women develop visible football-sized lumps that can be mistaken for a pregnancy bump, according to Ovarian Cancer Action.
Feeling full
Loss of appetite, or a feeling of fullness following eating, may be another sign of ovarian cancer, and this early satiety can be caused by a tumor.
This can make you not feel hungry because the fluid is pushed once morest other organs in your stomach.
Back ache
Back pain is a symptom of ovarian cancer, yet it is often dismissed as something else.
The tumor can cause persistent pain in the abdomen, hips and pelvis, if it spreads, as a result of irritation of the tissues in the lower back.
Unusual bleeding from the vagina
Bleeding between periods, or even following a period has stopped, can be a sign of ovarian cancer.
In most women, abnormal bleeding is a sign of a hormonal imbalance and the presence of a tumor.
“Any unusual bleeding from the vagina before or following menopause should always be investigated by a GP,” said Dr. Tate.
Why is ovarian cancer called the silent killer?
Because the disease is diagnosed so late due to its location in the pelvis, according to Dr. Ronnie Drapkin, associate professor at the University of Pennsylvania,
Explaining that, the pelvis is like a vessel, so a tumor there can grow large before it becomes noticeable.
