#Senatoriales2023: credible and transparent ballot

This is the assessment that the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji makes of the conduct of the ballot on March 12, 2023 throughout the national territory.

Voting safely. This is how the Minister of Territorial Administration (Minat) summarized the election of the 70 senators for the 3rd term this Sunday, March 12, 2023. “No major fact has been reported that might undermine the credibility of the results of this election”, declared Paul Atanga Nji.

Minister Paul Atanga Nji welcomed the progress of the electoral operations, from the electoral campaign to polling day. “The intense electoral campaign that we experienced is a sign of Cameroonians’ total support for the decentralization policy desired by the Head of State Paul Biya,” he noted. It is also noted that the field data relating to the security of the opening of the ballot boxes at 8 am until their closing at 6 pm show a free and peaceful ballot in the ten regions of Cameroon.

Perspectives

Upon hearing the proclamation of the election results by the competent authorities, the Minister of Territorial Administration urges the various actors in the running to show political maturity. Paul Atanga Nji also invites them to adopt a spirit of fair play.

It should be noted that 11,138 voters were expected in the 118 offices spread over the 58 departments of the country. More than 3,000 national and international observers deployed on the ground that day.
