“The Day is Gone” raises the curtain of “Theatrical Days” tonight

Tonight, in the Palace of Culture, the activities of the 32nd edition of “Sharjah Theatrical Days” will begin, with the participation of 14 performances, in the presence of more than 100 participants and guests from various Arab countries.

The new session opens with the play “The Day Has Come” by the Sharjah National Theater troupe, on the occasion of winning the “Sheikh Dr. The play was written by Ismail Abdullah and directed by Muhammad Al-Amiri, and it is the first Emirati play to win the award, which was established in 2011, and a group of the best Arab theater performances compete to win it every year.

The Emirati show team receives the prize, which amounts to 100,000 dirhams, at the opening ceremony of “Al-Ayyam”, which also witnesses the crowning of the Bahraini artist, Muhammad Yassin, with the Sharjah Prize for Arab Theatrical Creativity in its 16th session, and the honoring of the Emirati artist, Adel Bin Seifan, as the “honored local personality” in this version. From the “Sharjah Theatrical Days”, which will last until the 20th of this month.

Abdullah Al Owais, head of the Department of Culture in Sharjah, said: “(Theatrical Days) has continued its advancement of the theater movement in the country for decades, as it has stimulated efforts, developed capabilities and documented experiences, as it embraced youth, honored pioneers, valued experiences and celebrated successes, and became a record full of artistic and cultural achievements that Successive generations of Emirati theater are proud of it.

He added, “Theatrical days, in its 32nd edition, reinforce what has been achieved and open the way for theater and playwrights in the Emirates to progress towards more stations of excellence and artistic and cultural prosperity.”

Al Owais congratulated the Sharjah National Theater troupe for winning the Arab Theater Festival award with merit, considering the award as a result of a career full of giving and achievement, hoping that it will be a catalyst for permanent brilliance and excellence.

Eight performances are competing for the “Al-Ayyam” awards this year, namely: “Hymn” by the Yas Theater Group, “The Premature List” by the Kalba Theater Association, “The Executioner” by the Khorfakkan Art Theater, “The Living Dead” by the Modern Theater in Sharjah, and “The Man’s Song.” Al-Tayeb” for the Dibba Al-Hisn Society for Culture, Heritage and Theatre, “Tafsir Bint Yaqoot” for the Dubai National Theatre, “Mayadir” for the Umm Al-Quwain National Theatre, and “Zaghanbut” for the Sharjah National Theatre.

Three performances were chosen to be presented on the sidelines of “Al-Ayyam”, namely: “Burning a Candle” by the Dibba Al-Fujairah Society for Culture, Arts and Theater, “Peace Ya Salama” for the Dubai Al-Ahly Theater, and “Mihrab Bani Karsh” for the Ras Al-Khaimah Theater.

On the sidelines of the “Sharjah Theatrical Days”, the intellectual forum will be held tomorrow under the title “Theatre and the Environment” at the residence of the guests, with the participation of researchers and theater practitioners from several Arab countries, namely: the artist Abdullah Masoud (UAE), Dr. Muhammad Shiha and Dr. Dina Amin (Egypt), and Dr. Fahd Kaghat and Dr. Hassan Yousefi (Morocco), Dr. Ali Mohamed Saeed (Sudan), writer and researcher Mohamed El May (Tunisia), and Dr. George Matar (Lebanon).

First meeting

The cultural program accompanying the 32nd edition of “Sharjah Theatrical Days” includes various day and evening seminars and discussions.

In addition, 11 graduates of Arab theater colleges and institutes for the year 2022 will participate in the “11th Sharjah Forum for Early Arab Theatre”, which annually celebrates outstanding theatrical academies.
